Siamese Algae Eater
The Siamese Algae Eater (Crossocheilus oblongus) is a great addition to any community tank. Originating from Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, these fish are renowned for their algae-eating capabilities and also thrive in streams and rivers with abundant vegetation. In aquariums, Siamese Algae Eaters often graze on hair algae and also perch on decor.
Moreover, while hair algae can be a significant part of their diet, they also consume flakes, pellets, and algae wafers, ensuring they remain healthy and active. They can be kept singly or in groups and are generally peaceful, coexisting well with other fish species. Typically reaching up to 6 inches, however with most around 4 inches, they are suitable for various tank setups.
