GloSnail™ Nerite Snail (see care note)
* The GloSnail is a live aquatic Nerite snail (Neritina natalensis). It has been selected for compatibility with GloFish, but it is not fluorescent. Please note: not all snails will be the exact same in size and appearance.
The shells of the Nerite snail have bold and beautiful patterns, featuring gold/ brown and black stripes and patterns. In addition to adding a fascinating touch of unique style to your aquarium, the Nerite serves a very useful purpose by cleaning many types of algae off of aquarium glass, plants, ornaments, and aquarium gravel. They will not eat aquarium plants, only algae and food waste.
Nerite Snails are widely believed to be the best snail in the aquarium hobby for eating algae. They are compatible with GloFish and have a peaceful temperament.
CARE NOTE: Fully grown, these intriguing little animals range from 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter. Recommended stocking density is no more than one Nerite snail per 5-gallons of water. Nerite Snails will not breed in your aquarium, however, the females will lay unfertilized eggs along the aquarium glass that can be scraped off.
